THE SECRET SEASON ISSUE

Plett's attractions are sometimes best enjoyed in the Winter months.
Here are a few that that we think are worth doing in the off season.

Get Muddy
Forget crowded trails and dodging other riders. You will fall in love with Harkerville all over again in Winter.
Some of the most exciting routes are situated in the forests and they cater for every need from family fun to testing the most experienced riders.
The forests are situated in a region of exceptional beauty, with imposing mountains ranges, shimmering lakes and a rugged coastline, alternated with golden beaches.

Big Game
The biggest game reserve in the southern Cape with 2200 ha is spread out across the hills above Plett.
There is an abundance of wildlife including buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino.   The Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve is situated 12 km from Plett.

Plett's Wine Route
Have you sampled the wines from Plett’s boutique wine farms?   A treat awaits the wine connoisseur who likes to be adventurous.
Plettenberg Bay was named a South African ”Wine of Origin Region”  in 2005 by the South African Wine Industry
Wine grapes were first introduced to Plettenberg Bay in 2000 at Bramon Wine Estate in the Crags- a mere 10 minutes from Plett.
They discovered that the local climate (a cooler region than the Western Cape) and soil conditions were perfect for developing excellent character in wine.

The 16 wine producing vineyards in Plettenberg Bay surrounds are set at the base of the Tsitsikamma Mountains on the edge of the indigenous forests
overlooking the sweeping views of the Indian Ocean.   The picturesque vineyards and wine farms are a must for your next visit!

There are 16 estates;  Bramon Estates produces some 80 000 bottles per annum and assists other estates with producing 100 000 bottles per  annum.
Most are producing Sauvignon Blanc and Bubbly – and the quality is considered to be on a par with that produced in New Zealand’s world renowned Marlborough Estates.

You can book to taste wine at most of the estates, some of which provide light snacks, picnic lunches, dining amongst the vines and hi-tea options.
There is also a lovely option of touring on horseback through the Bramon. Newstead and Anderson Estates, linking with lodges such as Hog’s Hollow and Tamodi.
A winelands store in Plett which will offer wines  of the region will hopefully be open when you return  for your next visit.

And  so:
“As in years before
We walk our seaward ways
On quiet beaches through the
Autumn days”

Come and enjoy our secret season with us!
